Lifong Trading ("Lifong", "we", "us", "our") is a wholesale import business operating from Johannesburg, South Africa. We supply textiles and daily necessities to wholesale and retail buyers across South Africa and the SADC region. Our website is lifongtrading.com and our WhatsApp business line is +27 71 773 5427.

2. Information We Collect

When you contact us through our website, WhatsApp, Instagram, or other channels, we may collect:

• Identifying information: Your name, WhatsApp number, Instagram handle, business name
• Communication data: Messages you send us, voice notes, images you share
• Order data: Products you enquire about, quantities, delivery preferences
• Technical data: Timestamps, device language, IP address (website visits only)

We do not collect: bank card details (we accept payment by EFT only), biometric data, or "special personal information" as defined in POPIA section 26.

3. How We Use Your Information

We process your personal information to:

• Respond to your product enquiries and provide quotes
• Process and fulfil wholesale orders
• Send order updates and shipping confirmations
• Notify you when out-of-stock items return (only if you request this)
• Improve our AI assistant's accuracy over time
• Comply with legal obligations (VAT records, tax compliance)

4. Automated Decision-Making and AI Processing

Our WhatsApp customer service is primarily operated by an AI assistant powered by Anthropic Claude. The AI:

• Reads your messages to understand your enquiry
• Searches our product catalogue to provide accurate information
• Remembers our prior conversation history with you
• Can be replaced by a human (Yoyo, our manager and the owner of Lifong) at any time — just type manager or 经理

Your conversation data is processed by the following service providers (operators under POPIA):

5. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

• The operators listed above (under written data processing agreements)
• Logistics partners that you select for shipping (we do not arrange logistics)
• South African authorities if required by law (e.g., SARS, court order)

6. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred outside South Africa to the United States and other countries where our operators are based. Under POPIA section 72, we rely on:

• The receiving party's binding commitment to provide protection at a level comparable to POPIA
• Your consent (provided by your continued use of our service after receiving this notice)

7. How Long We Keep Your Data

• Active wholesale customers: for the duration of our commercial relationship plus 5 years (required by tax law)
• Prospects who never converted: 12 months after last interaction
• People who opted out of marketing: removed from active lists within 30 days; basic record kept for 12 months to honour your opt-out
• Anonymous aggregated data: retained indefinitely (no longer identifiable to you)

8. Your Rights Under POPIA

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you (free of charge for the first request per year)
• Correct inaccurate or outdated information
• Delete your information (subject to legal retention obligations)
• Object to direct marketing
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa: inforegulator.org.za
